Cortiçada Art Fest 2025, a festival organised by the Museu Experimenta Paisagem (MEP), will take place from 2 to 5 July in Oleiros and invites artists, residents, students and the general public to participate in a collaborative creation that transforms the space surrounding the Moongate artwork. The festival includes multidisciplinary workshops on architecture, dance and music, culminating in a participatory performance along the trail next to the Ribeira de Oleiros.
Ana Alves Costa and Filipa Guerreiro from the architecture team will lead the workshop Tropeços na Paisagem (Stumbling Blocks in the Landscape), with the collaboration of resident monitors Frederico Catarino and Miguel Oliveira do Vale. The main objective of the proposed intervention is to create constructed devices that enhance the setting, enjoyment and contemplation of the Moongate work and its surroundings, where water, stones, trees and walls — along with new materials to be introduced, such as cork — are fundamental elements in the composition of the project.
In the Dance team, dancers Catarina Alves and Florencia Rocco are leading the process and proposing a series of workshops that will create the proposal to be presented in the final performance inspired by the journey of Jesuit priest António de Andrade, with the central theme being a journey to a distant garden. The performance will take place along the trail next to the Ribeira de Oleiros, with the work Moongate as the protagonist. The performers’ movements develop along this path, creating an immersive experience, in which the audience will also be invited to participate. Dancer Sasha Demina and visual artist Amadeu are the two artists in residence who are part of this thematic team.
Paulo das Cavernas, musician and teacher, will be the leader of the Music thematic team, coordinating several Body Percussion workshops throughout the festival. These exercises in communication with the surrounding space awaken the body and introduce body percussion through movement, sound exploration and rhythmic interaction. Musician and researcher Marisa Hernandez is the artist in residence who will be part of this thematic team. The creations made during the workshops will be part of the final collaborative performance.
Participation in the festival is free upon registration.
