Atelier Yok Yok

Bagnolet, France

YokYok is a creative workshop founded and directed since 2015 by Samson LACOSTE and Luc PINSARD, architects. It now has four partners including Laure QAREMY, a teacher, and Pauline LAZAREFF, an engineer-architect. YokYok is an idea factory. YokYok creates site-specific installations, permanent or temporary, that offer an emotional and immersive experience. It creates architectural and social sculptures where usage is central; places for discovery and rendezvous. YokYok places great importance on context and its sensitive approach. After studying the location, YokYok works on diversion, storytelling, and immersion to create the unexpected. It accompanies the visitor in a new experience. YokYok believes that architecture and space can evoke emotions. In the post-COVID era, it seems essential to offer the possibility of socializing, leaving screens behind, feeling the materials, and the audacity of construction. YokYok is convinced of the virtues of low-tech, the pedagogy of detail, and the impact of reality on our minds. YokYok takes its responsibility as a creator in its constructive choices and the philosophy of its projects. YokYok was born in Paris. Its projects grow wherever the mobility of people or ideas allows it. The materials are locally sourced, as well as the skills, contributing to a project logic that is firmly anchored in its context. On Landscape Together YOK will design an artwork for a small village in Idanha-a-Nova, Portugal, using the community engagement methodology tested by MAG in that pilot territory. During the 4-yers project will coordinate workshops for students and communities about how to create sustainable design from process to solution. YOK will lead workshops during all the phases of in situ artwork creation in the pilot territory: discovery and analysis of the site, listing of the challenges inherent to the subject, definition of the axis and intentions, reflexion with artistic references, elaboration of the concept, production of study models and experiments, selection of the appropriate techniques for construction, elaboration of fabrication plans, elaboration of construction processes, construction workshops, photo shooting sessions and communication on the produced artwork. As architects, YOK team members have the skills and the experience of project development, in its creative and technical aspects. As artists, they have the experience of leading creative and participative projects with different types of audiences.
