Berlin, Germany

The vision of Berlin International University of Applied Sciences (BAU) is to provide students with a student-centered international and intercultural educational environment to stimulate and develop their intellectual growth, wisdom, and creativity. The academic and administrative staff is committed to helping students and preparing them for productive careers and responsible citizenship in a global society. Berlin International aspires to be one of the leading private universities in Germany in terms of intercultural and interdisciplinary teaching and applied research. The academic goals include a commitment to knowledge-based solutions and societal problems as well as contributions to innovation and development in society. In addition, Berlin International promotes cross-cultural and cross-national understanding through international academic co-operations and joint projects. In this respect, it profits from its close relationship with BAU's Global Education Network, which is composed of five universities. All the universities in this network share the core values of integrity, respect, excellence, innovation, and social responsibility. As an independent institution within this network, Berlin International University of Applied Sciences has its own individual mission statement and academic profile which has been accepted by the Academic Senate. BAU will be more involved in Creative Thinking actions related to Sustainable Design. With the support of the KHBT team that teaches at BAU it will be possible to reach as many students as possible to participate in the workshops and exhibition development in Berlin. KHBT studio, with the students, will work on research proposals that will deal with principles of local, sustainable and creative practices in order to establish guidelines for both future projects and for the pilot territory artwork. This process includes analysis methods to create site specific spatial and material research. In the final stage of creation, the workshops will focus on the issues debated during the artworks production, from the involvement of the local community to aesthetic experiences in the landscape. An opportunity to tackle the transformative potential achieved by the enjoyment of places and to handle the environmental impact reduction in the creation of the artistic installations with tested methods.
