The day was filled with special moments, featuring all the artists invited by the Chillida Leku museum and the President of Sertã, Carlos Miranda.
In the afternoon, we dove into the first Maushaus workshop, exploring reflections with the artwork “Véu” as our backdrop. And what an incredible experience it was during the first Forest Bath workshop, coordinated by Nausica Sanchez, where we all connected with our senses in the enchanting Parque da Carvalha.
The second day in Sertã was memorable, marked by the enthusiastic participation of 120 students from the Agrupamento de Escolas da Sertã in inspiring workshops conducted by Ana Martín Rodríguez, Claudia Hernández Bolaños, Marina Suárez Pérez, Ornella Melissa Munar Huertas and Urkia Sánchez Mendizabal from the Faculty of Fine Arts of San Sebastián and the Maushaus collective. We were also honored to have the dedicated presence of teachers and monitors, who came with the objective of learning and sharing knowledge about educational programs in the field of culture.
The workshops, focused on the profound relationship between the landscape and the artwork “Véu,” provided enriching and reflective moments for everyone involved. In the evening, the screening of the documentary “THE RIVER IS NOT A PLACE” by Nagore Legarreta and Beñat Iturrioz touched our hearts, making us ponder our relationship with water, the river, and the places that are part of our lives.
On June 14th, we had the pleasure of spending an unforgettable day in the company of Moongate. The morning was marked by two simultaneous workshops: the magic of pinhole photography, led by Nagore Legarreta, explored the relationship between the photographic gaze and the movement of water in the Oleiros stream. Participants had the opportunity to build their own cameras from cans. At the same time, the dance company Neri(h)ari engaged everyone in a collective movement in harmony with the landscape and the river rhythm.
In the afternoon, we had the privilege of hosting the second workshop of Maushaus that lead the kids to open new doors and gates around Moongate. After that Mariachiara Esposito made an enlightening talk on European funding and green planning for cultural initiatives. The evening brought the most anticipated moment: a performance by the Neri(h)ari company alongside Moongate. It was a collective feeling of magnetic and impactful wonder, with the sunset and the sun’s light fading, giving way to Moongate’s light revealing itself through the foliage and the dance.
The incredible performance by the vertical dancer Dimegaz and musician Nahia Zubeldia at the Farol dos Ventos created strong emotions shared by more than 60 people, including residents and guests, in the natural amphitheater of Serra das Talhadas, on the afternoon of Saturday, June 15th. In the morning, we explored different sensations in the Forest Bath workshop in Sobral Fernando, on the Menina dos Medos Trail, guided by Nausica Sanchez. The day culminated in Cunqueiros with an innovative performance that combined the contemporary with the ancestral, featuring artist Ane Zelaia and the singers of the Encomendação das Almas from Cunqueiros, in an emotionally powerful moment. It was, without a doubt, an ambitious and memorable day for everyone, and it couldn’t have gone better.
Thus ended the Cortiçada Art Fest in Chão do Galego, which left echoing in our memory the genuine phrase “A gente quer é gente!” which emerged during a moment of sharing between local inhabitants, participants, and guests João Pinharanda from MAAT, architect Marta Aguiar, founder of the Museu Experimenta Paisagem, José Luís Ferreira from Casa de Mateus Foundation, and Catarina Távora from the Orquestra sem Fronteiras, moderated by Matilde Torres Pereira.
This day was also marked by the final exhibition of the artists in residence: Mariana Miguel, Gonçalo Ribeiro, Gonçalo Pereira, Manu Romeiro, Ginger Porto, and Pedro Gomes.
