The Landscape Together project enters its final phase dedicated to Dissemination and Communication, with a series of exhibitions, conferences, inaugurations and events that reflect the impact of the collective learning process promoted over the last few years.
Five years after the creation of Moongate, Cortiçada Art Fest returned to Oleiros with the theme LT Lab Environment, to engage artists, students and residents in reflection on the appropriation of the work and the possibilities for transforming the territory. From 2 to 6 July, the event had around 50 participants, including students from the Polytechnic of Milan and the University of Coimbra, 6 artists in residence, 12 workshops, 1 exhibition and 1 final seminar, with strong involvement from the local community and various educational and social institutions such as: the Municipality and the Senior University of Oleiros, APPACDM and the Professional and
Technological School of Sertã, the Padre António de Andrade School Group, the Hotel Santa Margarida, the Oleiros Campsite, but also people from other areas of the Experimenta Paisagem Museum: from Cunqueiros, Pedrógão Grande, Castanheira de Pera and Cernache do Bonjardim.
“Viagem a Jardim Distante” (Journey to a Distant Garden), the collaborative performance inspired by the letters of Oleirense Father António de Andrade, was the theme of the 4th edition of Cortiçada Art Fest.
The artists began preparing the transformation of this place before Cortiçada, starting their residencies on 29 June. With the architecture team, FAUP professors Ana Alves Costa and Filipa Guerreiro coordinated the two architects in residence, Frederico Catarino and Miguel Vale Oliveira, in a rigorous and creative project that began with the collection of ancestral knowledge about tropeços and resin extraction, such as that of Daniel Gonçalves de Álvaro. The dance and music team, Catarina Alves, Florência Rocco and Paulo Cavernas, began preparing movements and creations with the Senior University and the School in January, giving rise to a commitment and engagement that infected the dancers in residence, Sasha Demina and Maria Pereira.
The creations of the six artists in residence from 29 June until the end of Cortiçada were carefully coordinated over several months by the artistic direction of Mariana Costa (MAG), with the indispensable support of the municipality of Oleiros for a stay with all the necessary care.
Throughout the Cortiçada Art Fest, highlights include a body percussion workshop with 120 children from Oleiros (with the support of Férias Desportivas de Oleiros!), and several dance workshops with 20 users of APPACDM in Sertã. In a pioneering and decisive move for the development of the Museu Experimenta Paisagem, the partnership with the Escola Profissional e Tecnológica da Sertã (EPTS) ensured the tireless support of a production and catering team of 8 students, opening up new perspectives for both entities.
It is essential to highlight the cross-cultural nature of this Cortiçada Art fest, which featured participants from six countries (Portugal, Brazil, Italy, Venezuela, Iran and Russia) and incorporated sounds and words recorded with children of different nationalities living in the region into the musical composition.
The creations of each artist and architect were integrated, as in an orchestra, into the performance ‘Viagem a um jardim distante’ (Journey to a distant garden). The sculptures created by Amadeu, the ‘stumbling blocks in the landscape’ from the workshops by Ana Alves Costa, Filipa Guerreiro, Frederico Catarino and Miguel Vale, the sound compositions by Marisa Hernandez and Paulo Cavernas, the video by Sasha Demina and Amadeo, the artistic record by Lara Jacinto and the exhibition of the artistic residencies. A set of artistic creations that will be included in the MAG MARQUES DE AGUIAR exhibition in the context of the Landscape Together project, at a date and location to be announced shortly.
Also noteworthy is the Cultural Tour of the University of Coimbra, held between 24 and 28 September at different locations of the Experimenta Paisagem Museum, inspired by the ‘Care, See, Act Together’ model.
